ICELANDIC LOVE CORPORATION

L'Icelandic Love Corporation è un collettivo nato nel '96. Originariamente in quattro, le tre ragazze rimaste hanno continuato l'opera iniziata, lavorando nel campo della performance e delle installazioni. La loro base operativa è a Reykjavík e tra i temi che affrontano figura spesso, come protagonista o come ambientazione, la natura. Nel 2006, per volere di Björk, curano gli abiti destinati alla promozione del nuovo disco in lavorazione. La visione di Björk sui media è chiara da anni: gli shooting fotografici e i video devono amplificare e aiutare a precisare il concetto espresso nella produzione e nei testi, in questo caso l'immaginario di Volta. L'ILC progetta allora una serie di costumi, creando "an electro neon icelandic domestic joyful force of nature"

Yoann Bertrandy dissertation project at the ESAD

—During his first year, he questioned five amateur graphic designers with jobs including chaplain, sports teacher and accounting secretary.
Rather than dealing in clichés or seeking to bring his respon dents into line with professionals' perception of the discipline, Bertrandy conduced a series of interviews on their graphic practice and their techincal contexts, their perception of graphic design and its role and the value of a typeface.
Arranged into a dissertation anda book of interviews, the project observes the development of of amateur graphic design as enabled by the democratisation of IT tools.
Besides providing an account of this development, the work signals that the young generation is taking this phenomenon into account—taken from étapes

Katja Gretzinger is a graphic designer living and working in Berlin and Zurich. After the study of visual communication in Düsseldorf she worked some years in the corporate design field. Later she started working as self-employed graphic designer and since then regularly collaborates with different design-studios and designers. Since 2005 she works together with Gregor Huber on content-based projects like the Rote Fabrik Zeitung. In 2006-2008 she was researcher at the Jan van Eyck Academie in Maastricht/The Netherlands. Her work has been included in several publications and she works and writes on different research-projects about graphic design.

Triennale Design Museum e Ministero della Grafica presentano Spaghetti Grafica 2, una grande collettiva dedicata alla grafica italiana, che vede la partecipazione di un selezione di 95 studi fra quelli che, nello scorso gennaio, hanno aderito al secondo bando di concorso lanciato dal Ministero della Grafica.
Attraverso 125 progetti selezionati tra i 1300 arrivati da tutte le regioni d’Italia, la mostra è un viaggio alla scoperta della grafica italiana, che ne documenta gli sviluppi recenti e la capacità di rinnovarsi costantemente portando avanti una grande tradizione.
L’allestimento prevede una divisione in tre spazi: un’area progetti con la selezione dei lavori, un’area di incontro e scambio dove consultare i portfolio dei singoli studi, una mostra fotografica con immagini scattate dai designer dentro il loro ambiente di lavoro.
La mostra si presenta come un grande racconto di progetti e di esperienze dove è possibile vedere, approfondire e scoprire il backstage di ogni lavoro. Si tratta di un racconto corale fatto di immagini, segni e pittogrammi che diventano i principali protagonisti.

Beyond these walls is a group exhibition at the South London Gallery. Seven artists were commissioned to make works which prompt fresh perspectives on the SLG's architecture, history and location. The works in the show are not confined to the gallery walls, but also spill out into the garden and beyond into the local community. Our response was to create a diagrammatical analogy of the curatorial concept, which highlights the physical and spacial relationships between the works and the space.

" The live show for Nosaj Thing, a collaboration with Julia Tsao. Video clips are the formatted for mixing in Modul8. Each clip belongs to a certain part of a song. We triggered and manipulated each clip live with 2 midi controllers. Our performance is focused around disorientation and using the projector as a light source. The first half of the show is dedicated to slowly building a visual style. The images are black and white lines and squares. The positive/negative space is used to create rhythm that is synced with the audio. As the set progresses, the imagery becomes less abstract and focused less on light. Patterns begin to form and space begins to open as if the two dimensions exploded into a third. The relationship the graphics create with the performer is interesting. As the graphics become more spatial, the performer flattens, becoming a 2-D cutout version of himself. "
